It's that time again...FOOTBALL!!!
The Rams have actually been having a good season so far. I for one am actually surprised about this. I am proud to be a CSU Ram, but sometimes the football team can be a little disappointing. This year they have surprised many by the way they have been playing. Last week they won in overtime against Utah State. That was a shocker for me.
This week is Parent's/ Homecoming weekend and I know everybody is just as excited as I am for this game. They play San Jose State, whose had a pretty good season so far. I just hope the Rams can hold their own against them. The football team is 3-1, lets keep the wins coming.
The cross country team had a pretty good weekend at the Roy Griak Invitational. The men placed 16th, and the women placed 13th. They went up against many nationally ranked teams for the first time this season.
The women are really dominating every meet that they compete in. The men do need to step it up a little bit, but I have faith they'll do well. I'm looking forward for the athletes to compete in the MW competition in Fort Collins next month, this will be the first time they will compete at home.
The Rams volleyball and football teams will be competing this weekend, and I am looking forward to wins from all around!! Hopefully it's a great Homecoming weekend!!

First Colorado State football loss
The first loss for the Rams took place this past weekend against University of Colorado. We had a great team and I feel for the most part we played our hardest, but towards the end of the game we just gave up.
I am a little disappointed in this loss. We started off so good in the first quarter with Pete Thomas scoring the first touch down. I think everyone had the right mind set going into this game.
The Rams fans were so involved and gave great participation. Every time they would scream and cheer CSU just looked more pumped. By the end of the second quarter, fans started to get a little discouraged when CU scored.
At the start of the second half there was just a different feeling in the atmosphere. The students on both teams just were not as involved. This was just so disappointing.
How the Rams started to play did not raise the energy in their cheering section at all. I don't know if this was partly the reason why CSU played so poorly in the second half, but they just increasingly got worse.
I really felt like we had a fighting chance, but at least the score was better than last year. That was even more disappointing, at least the final score was 14-28. Overall, I'm still VERY proud to be a Ram and I always will be!

Great football season opener!
Well I for one was pleasantly surprised by how well the Rams football team did Saturday. They has such strong lead by half time, I thought, there was no way UNC could come close to tying it up.
To my surprise, UNC did manage to score to field goals closer to the end of the game. By watching the entire game, I noticed our defense got a sloppy towards the end of the game.
Maybe this was due to Coach Fairchild thinking CSU was doing a great job. The Rams could have easily won without the Bears scoring at all, but with much disappointment, that didn't happen.
Overall I think the Rams did not do that bad. There were a little too many injuries for just the first half, but I feel like the Rams got past all that. Winning 33-14 is pretty good, but I feel like it could have been a little better.
Colorado State does have their work cut for them though for the game coming up. Even though they are 2-0, University of Colorado does have a pretty high winning record on them. Right now, CU is at 0-2, but I'm pretty positive that will change here soon. I'm a Ram all the way, but I don't know if they can live up to CU's great defense.

Looking forward to the first home football game!
It is the moment Colorado State students have been waiting for... the first home football game!
Coming back from their first game with a win from New Mexico, we can only expect (or at least hope) they will win. They will be playing the Northern Colorado Bears at 12:00 pm.
Colorado State is coming in with many strong players, all of whom played great last weekend.
Being such an avid sports fan, especially football, I can only hope they will do well. Last year, I was a little disappointed in the outcome of the season, but with such a strong season opener, I can only be optimistic.
Saturday is also the annual Orange Out. I love these games because everybody gets to come together and show CSU's history. It's always fun to see bright orange and green mixed in the stands.
I'm looking forward to a good win!

Great weekend for season openers
Colorado State athletics had a great weekend for every sport! Cross country, Volleyball, and Football won this weekend.
Cross country traveled to Wyoming for the Wyoming Invitational. They won this meet for the past three years and could only have hoped to win for a fourth consecutive year. With leading the pack for the men's team, Spenser Lynass scored very well leading them to a first place win.
The women's team was led by Nicole Peters with Ellie Keyser coming in after by a couple seconds. The women's team also got the first place win, sweeping the meet.
The football team traveled to New Mexico for their first game of the season. The game started out with New Mexico's early lead, but with the help of Nordly Capi's forced fumble, CSU could guarantee the win. They won 14-10 and luckily did not give up the ball, which it started to look like with a couple minutes left on the clock at the end of the fourth quarter.
The volleyball team had a home game against Albany. They won the first three games guaranteeing the win. It was a close game for all three sets, but CSU grabbed it.
Overall the teams did a fantastic job and we can only hope that they continue this great start for everybody!
